Vodafone Ghana becomes Telecel Ghana – A renewed dedication towards meeting the evolving needs of customers and promoting personal and Business Growth in Ghana

In a significant development within the telecommunications sector, Vodafone Ghana has officially transitioned to Telecel Ghana, marking a strategic move to expand economic access to communication services across the country.

Telecel Ghana has now assumed control over various operations previously managed by Vodafone Ghana, including fixed telephone lines, internet services, voice and data services, as well as cash transfer and other business services.

This transition follows the acquisition of a 70 percent majority stake in Vodafone Ghana by Telecel Group.

During the official rebranding ceremony, the CEO of Telecel Ghana, Patricia Obo-Nai, emphasized the commitment to innovation and digital inclusion on the newly unveiled Telecel network.

The Telecel Group, an Africa-focused telecommunication company has fully rebranded Vodafone Ghana to “Telecel”.

The Telecel group is said to have acquired 70% majority shares in Vodafone Ghana (Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited – GTCL) in February 2023.

In a statement by the CEO of Telecel Group, Moh Damush stated “In February 2023, Telecel completed the acquisition of Vodafone Ghana, setting the stage for a massive rebranding campaign.

“This evolution represents more than just a name change; it signifies our commitment to advancing telecommunications in Ghana with a renewed focus on meeting the evolving needs of our customers.

“This rebranding represents a bold step forward into a future where innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction remain at the core of who we are. Our goal is to provide Ghanaians with exceptional services, exceeding their expectations”.

In her words, Patricia Obo-Nai, CEO of Vodafone Ghana said, “I am truly excited about this transition. Our goal is to deliver a great network for our customers, enabling connectivity that promotes personal and business growth.

What Happens Next

The rebranding process started in January and has been completed with a full branding revealed.

The rebranding covered Vodafone Ghana and its three subsidiaries:

  • National Communication Backbone Company Limited (Vodafone Wholesale)
  • Vodafone Ghana Mobile Financial Services Limited (Vodafone Cash)
  • Vodafone Ghana Foundation 

The incoming of Telecel Ghana has seen the expansion, deepening, and improvement in service delivery to Ghanaians. And Current customers of Telecel Ghana have expressed great excitement and satisfaction with the new Group’s incoming.
