Latest Solidarity Message to GITFiCs Global Debt Initiative – from the Government and People of Australia.
In a letter dated 6 August 2024, the Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference – GITFiC is reminded that Australia is a member of the G20, and rightly so.
The GITFiC is again reminded of the G20 Common Framework for Debt Treatment and rightly so.
The GITFiC is also reminded that our position paper was readied before Ghana received the Common Framework agreement in January 2024.
Beyond the DSSI as mentioned in our position paper is and was a short-term measure. The success rate of the DSSI to us at The GITFiC wasn’t extensive and impactful enough. This is the reason our GDI looks promising and has come to stay to proffers medium to long-term solutions. Certainly, our rover negotiating team will stop by Australia and meet with Australia in its capacity as a member of the G20 to discuss prospects and long-term solutions, having heard the thoughts and position of the African Union on this subject through His Excellency Albert Muchanga.
Dear Government and People of Australia, your well-wishing is acknowledged, and highly appreciated and we look forward to strategic conversations for a long-term solution even beyond the G20 Common Framework for Debt Treatment.
