The African Women’s Leadership Conclave (AWLC) is pleased to announce that its maiden conference will be held soon in November 2025. The Conclave brings together established African women leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and young women across the continent to share knowledge, build networks, and strengthen inter-generational mentorship that accelerates women’s leadership in business, governance, science, and the professions.

Why This Conference Matters
Africa’s future depends on the skills, confidence, and opportunities we pass from today’s leaders to the next generation. When accomplished women leaders step forward to teach, guide, and mentor younger women and girls, the returns are social, economic, and civic — better business growth, more women in executive and political roles, and a stronger pipeline of women leaders in STEM, finance, health, and public service.
Recent studies show that structured mentorship and coaching improve business outcomes, leadership readiness, and access to career opportunities for women. Mentorship has proven to be one of the most powerful tools for sustainable empowerment and inclusive growth on the continent.
The Mentorship Gap — The Problem We Must Close
While momentum is growing, a significant mentorship gap still exists between top African women leaders and the younger generation coming after them:
🔸 Low Access to Formal Mentorship: Across many African countries, fewer than 1 in 10 young professional women report having access to formal mentorship programs. This weakens the transfer of leadership knowledge and limits advancement opportunities.
🔸 Unequal Mentorship Opportunities: Studies show that only about 24% of women leaders have had formal mentors compared to 30% of men. This means fewer women receive the sponsorship and exposure needed to rise to senior roles.
🔸 Scarcity of Visible Role Models: Many young African women still lack direct access to visible female mentors across sectors — from business and academia to governance and media — creating barriers to confidence and aspiration.

Evidence That Mentorship Works (The Impact)
The positive effects of mentorship are measurable and transformative:
🌍 Entrepreneurship Growth: Mentorship and business training programs in Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria have led to up to 35% increases in business survival and profitability for women entrepreneurs.
🌟 Career Advancement: Structured mentorship programs across Africa have boosted women’s confidence, improved leadership skills, and increased representation in mid- to senior-level management positions.
💡 Social Impact: Mentored women are more likely to mentor others, multiplying empowerment across families, communities, and generations.
These successes show that mentorship is not just guidance — it’s an engine for women’s leadership development and Africa’s sustainable growth.
AWLC 2025 Conference — Focus Areas
The November 2025 Conclave will spotlight the power of mentorship and leadership transformation under three key themes:
From Mentorship to Sponsorship: Creating stronger leadership pipelines that connect mentees to real opportunities — board seats, funding, and leadership roles.
Scalable Mentorship Models: Exploring how digital, peer, and community-based mentorship can reach millions of women and girls beyond major cities.
Measuring Impact: Building frameworks to track how mentorship translates into tangible growth — in income, employment, business performance, and leadership attainment.
A Call to Action
The AWLC is inviting Africa’s top women leaders — in business, politics, academia, entrepreneurship, healthcare, and technology — to come forward as mentors, speakers, and sponsors.
This is also a call to young women, students, and emerging professionals across Africa: this is your opportunity to learn, grow, and connect directly with the women leading the continent’s transformation.
Together, we can close the mentorship gap and create a legacy of empowered, confident, and visionary African women leaders.
Join the Movement — November 2025
The upcoming AWLC Conference this November 2025 is more than an event — it’s a defining moment for African women to unite, inspire, and lead the next generation into purpose and leadership.
