Renowned music executive and Mavin record label boss, Michael Collins Ajereh, also known as Don Jazzy has appointed Tega Oghenejobo as the label’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) and President.
He announced this In an Instagram post yesterday Tuesday, where the music producer praised Tega for his passion, resilience, and commitment to African music. He stated that Tega has been instrumental in building teams, developing executives, and creating sustainable careers for Mavin’s artistes.
In Don Jazzy’s words “While I am often praised for discovering and nurturing superstars, I can confidently say the most genius move I’ve made was recognizing Tega’s passion and resilience. From the early days, I’ve seen him delve into the business, build teams, develop executives, and create sustainable careers for our talents.
“His commitment to Mavin and African music has been relentless, and I’m certain that with him in this role, we’ll continue to achieve remarkable milestones for our artists and the company. Congratulations, @tegamavin.”
On his part, Tega has expressed gratitude to Don Jazzy, who he describes as “supreme leader,” for his unwavering trust.
In his response, He vowed to be “deeply committed” to African music and the label, embracing new challenges and setting ambitious goals.
“I’m honored to step into this new role as President & COO of Mavin Records. It means embracing new challenges, setting new goals, and reaching new heights,” he wrote via Twitter X.

Don Jazzy co-founded the now-defunct record label Mo’ Hits Records in 2004 with his former business partner, Oladapo Oyebanj, a.k.a D’banj. And following its closure, he set up Mavin Records on 8 May, 2012.
Mavin has produced artists such as Tiwa Savage, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, Dr SID, D ’Prince, DNA Twins, and many others.
Artistes under the Mavin label include Ayra Starr, Johnny Drille, Crayon, Boy Spice, Bayanni, Rema, Lifesize Teddy, and Ladipoe.
In 2019, Don Jazzy unveiled a newly built multimillion-naira mansion tagged “Mavin Creative Studios” as Mavin Corporate Headquarters to celebrate his 37th birthday.
The label has received numerous accolades, including the MTV Africa Music Award for Best Record Label in 2013 and 2014.
Mavin Records’ artistes have also collaborated with global singers such as Beyoncé, Selena Gomez, Kelly Rowland, and Chris Brown.
