Rwandan Journalists Yvonne Kayitesi (Tessy) and Uwase Blandine (Blandy Star) Share Insights on Challenges Facing Women in Entertainment
In a recent appearance on “Kulture Talk” on IGIHE, journalists Yvonne Kayitesi (Tessy) and Uwase Blandine (Blandy Star) opened up about the obstacles women face in the entertainment industry. The two, who first met on the program “This and That,” discussed the harsh realities of sex-based corruption and the importance of self-control for women pursuing careers in entertainment.
Tessy and Blandy Star, who have both experienced sexual harassment and exploitation in their own careers, emphasized the need for women to be cautious and make informed decisions when navigating the industry. They acknowledged the presence of opportunities for women in Rwandan entertainment but stressed the importance of prioritizing principles and integrity over quick success.
The journalists recalled their own experiences with sexual harassment and exploitation, including incidents where they were offered jobs or opportunities in exchange for sexual favors. They advised aspiring female entertainers to be wise and vigilant, ensuring they make choices that secure a successful future.
Their conversation sheds light on the challenges women face in the entertainment industry and the importance of supporting and empowering each other to overcome these obstacles.
