Ghana faces Niger today in AFCON Qualifier’s Match in Morocco

Ghana will face Niger in their second game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier with the fixture moved to Berkane, Morocco.

The decision comes after CAF declared the facilities in Niger as being unplayable.

Many believe the game being on neutral will give the Black Stars an advantage as they will avoid intimidation. However, Ghanaian player Thomas Partey does not believe there is any such thing for Ghanaian Coach Otto Addo’s side.

“I don’t think there is any advantage there [in playing the game in Morocco],” Partey said in an interview with SuperSport. “It all depends on how we approach the game.

“If we go with the approach to win, we go there to win because there are a lot of good players now and you can’t underrate anyone.”

Partey added that he has full belief in the current project and expects to hit top gear soon. “I believe in all the players that come in the team; young and the quality that they have,” he added. “I think all they need is our support and the support of every Ghanaian. I see from training the quality and I am really sure it’s going to be massive.”

The game is scheduled to be played at the Stade Municipal de Berkane in Morocco.

Niger suffered a 1-0 loss to Sudan in the opening game of the qualifying series and will also be hoping to claim their first point against Ghana.

Ahead of the picture which will be played in Morocco, Addo has cautioned his team to be careful against the Mena on Monday.

“We observed them, we watched a lot of games that they played and they look strong. They have good players on their team and they play together as a team. Like I said, they had some losses, but it was always very, very close and they also had their chances, so we have to be aware of that,” he said in his preview of the game.

“They have good strikers, they defend very well, tactically they are well-educated, so it’s not going to be easy, but I’m sure that if we do our best if we can create as many chances as we did in the last game against Angola, we will force the luck to come back to us.”

The game against Niger is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT.

Global African Times wishes both teams a good play, and we wish the Black Stars of Ghana a hopeful win.
