By Gustav Addo – CEO, SYLVI ATHENS MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS
Women must have more leadership opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa to improve business, governance and the entire society for generations of African coming after us.
Which is why SYLVI ATHENS MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS, in partnership with L’ELS EVENTS, proudly announces the maiden edition of the African Women’s Leadership Conclave 2025 (AWLC 2025) — a transformative leadership and mentorship platform designed to connect, empower, and elevate African women leaders and the next generation of aspiring young women across the continent.
The maiden AWLC 2025 Conference will be held very soon — with the venue to be announced shortly.

A Vision to Redefine Women’s Leadership in Africa
The African Women’s Leadership Conclave seeks to become Africa’s largest, most impactful, and most direct leadership and mentorship platform — bringing together top African women leaders from diverse sectors to connect, lead, and teach the upcoming generation of younger African women in Corporate Careers, IT, Entrepreneurship, Media, Politics, Governance, Academia, and Social Enterprise.
AWLC 2025 is designed to bridge a critical mentorship gap that exists between Africa’s most accomplished women and the younger women striving to follow in their footsteps.
The Mentorship Gap in Perspective
Across Africa, women continue to make remarkable progress in business, leadership, and innovation — yet structured mentorship remains scarce:
Only 21% of Board seats in Africa are held by women, and a mere 9% of CEOs across the continent are women. In technology, women hold fewer than 12% of leadership positions, and only 10% of African tech start-ups are led by women.
Alarmingly, only about 5% of professional women in Sub-Saharan Africa report having access to formal mentorship programmes — despite mentorship increasing leadership advancement by up to 27%.
These figures highlight a profound need: Africa’s young women need access to mentors, role models, and structured leadership pathways. The African Women’s Leadership Conclave 2025 is rising to meet that need.
A Conclave of Purpose, Leadership, and Impact
AWLC 2025 will feature inspirational keynote sessions, mentorship circles, leadership dialogues, and networking hubs connecting women from all walks of life.
The Conclave invites:
Young female students and emerging women professionals seeking mentorship and leadership exposure. Also female entrepreneurs looking to scale their ventures and learn from established business leaders. African women in corporate and public leadership ready to mentor, inspire, and empower the next generation.
Organizations and partners supporting gender equality and leadership development to collaborate and amplify this mission.
