Grammy Award Winner Burna Boy issues warning to singer Speed Darlington ‘Next time there will be no mercy’

Nigerian singer Burna Boy has issued a stern warning to singer Speed Darlington, who just got released from prison after a two-month detention over cyberstalking violations.

In the early hours of January 22, 2025, the Grammy Award-winning artiste took to his Instagram story to warn the social media personality against messing with him.

“If you like, misbehave again, you’ll go to where you came from! And this time around there would be no mercy! #Dontmesswithodg”

Darlington was initially arrested by police in October 2024 after Burna Boy filed a petition against him with the police. Speed Darlington’s woes began with his allegations against Burna Boy, claiming that the Grammy-winning artist’s success was tied to connections with embattled American rapper Diddy. These comments reportedly led to his arrest for alleged cyberstalking, marking the start of a tumultuous legal journey.

After securing bail in October 2024, Darlington doubled down on his criticisms, demanding compensation from Burna Boy. This defiance led to his re-arrest during a performance in Imo State on November 27, 2024, prolonging his incarceration. Despite a Federal High Court granting him bail on December 23, 2024, he remained behind bars until January 21, 2025. Darlington’s lawyer accused Burna Boy of influencing the police to delay his release, a claim that added fuel to the fire between the two entertainers. In response, Burna Boy, in a now-deleted Instagram post, warned Darlington to tread carefully, stating that another misstep could land him back in jail.

It all began in the late hours of October 7, 2024, when an SOS was posted on Speed’s Instagram page. The post stated that he had been missing for 3 days and asked anyone with information to come forward.

Things took a different turn when Speed Darlington’s mother revealed that her son was declared missing after making a video about Nigerian musician Burna Boy. In the video, she was seen begging the singer to have mercy on her son and kindly release him. This came after Speed Darlington made a video about the singer, alleging that he had affiliations with American rapper Diddy, who was recently arrested for sex trafficking and other crimes. The video gained traction, and following Speed Darlington’s arrest, he quickly became the talk of the town online.

He was then re-arrested on November 27, 2024, while performing at a show in Owerri, Imo State, after being accused of cyberstalking the singer, and has now been released on bail.

Breaking his silence after his recent release Speed Darlington refused to be subdued. Sharing a dramatic video of two rams locked in combat, he captioned the clip:

“I’m back. To those fighting, one step back, it is not running away. He went to gather energy and launch back with a banger!”

This bold statement, paired with the imagery of rams clashing, signals Darlington’s intent to maintain his controversial style, unfazed by past ordeals or Burna Boy’s warnings.
