Kenya’s government has been appointed as vice president of Eastern Africa Association of Anti-corruption Authorities Executive Committee (EAAACA). The duration of the position holds for two years. The appointment was made at the 15th Annual General Meeting of EAAACA in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The general meeting brings together heads of Anti-corruption agencies from countries such as Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Djibouti, South Sudan, Burundi and Somalia. Discussions to be had at the meeting are centered on the modalities of strengthening regional cooperation in the fight against corruption.
The EAAACC delegation is led by the Director of Field Services and Coordination, Jackson Kaunda Mue.
As a regional model in the recovery of unexplained wealth and corruption-acquired assets, the EAAACA continues to share its experience and best practices with other countries.
In January, Kenya was selected to host a key regional anti-corruption body namely the Centre for Anti-Corruption Studies and Research in Africa.
The body will be set up by the African Association of Anti-corruption Authorities (AAACA).
On January 9, 2024, the resolution of the General Assembly of the EAAACA was held. It acknowledged Kenya’s commitment to international and regional legal instruments against corruption by establishing key Anti-corruption structures and recording significant milestones in law enforcement, prevention and recovery, and recovery of assets acquired through corruption.
